Getting Started

By enrolling in the Accredited Home-Staging Specialist program you have joined other real estate professionals who have made the commitment to raise the level of professionalism in the industry.  Evidenced by the overwhelming number of designees and agents completing the AHS program, it is clear that customer service has become the one of the most important topics in today’s real estate market.

In order to maximize the value of the program, we encourage that you complete the course modules in the order that they are presented.  Also we invite you to prepare yourself to think outside of the box in defining the level of services that you will commit to in delivering professional service to today’s customer.

Remember, for the consumer to understand your value, you must identify, demonstrate and deliver a higher level of professional service than ever before.



Course Navigation

SOFTWARE REQUIRED
The course has been created utilizing a number of multi-media programs including Adobe Acrobat, steaming video, audio and Flash. If you do not have Acrobat Reader or Macromedia Flash Player click the icons on the left, which will take you to the respective websites to obtain a free download of the software. We recommend that you use Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or better. Other browsers do not support some of the features used in this course.

DISPLAY SETTING
For optimum viewing we suggest using a screen resolution of 1280 by 1024 pixels.  You can check your settings by going to your computer’s CONTROL PANEL and selecting DISPLAY PROPERTIES – SETTINGS and adjusting your screen resolution.  As a very minimum we suggest using 1024 by 768 pixels. 

VIEWING CONTROLS
The website delivering the course for you contains self-explanatory navigation controls: BACK – NEXT and STOP- PAUSE.  Use the BACK and NEXT arrows for moving from one slide to another.  The stop and start buttons are located just below the video screen.  The small black arrowhead that moves from left to right can be moved by putting your mouse on the arrowhead and click and hold the left mouse button.  Then drag the arrowhead to move the program forward or backward.  This is helpful if you want to repeat something that was just said. 

>>The small arrows jump ahead or back to the next section within a slide. The volume slider is set to mid-range so that you may adjust the volume on your computer to the desired level.

MODULES & SECTIONS
You will find the Sections on COURSE STATUS page and only after you have completed a section will you be able to go forward to the next.  Once you have completed a section you can return to it at any time. 

On the last slide in each module the NEXT button is changed to COMPLETE.  You must click the COMPLETE button when you are finished with the last slide.  You will then be taken to the Knowledge Check for that section if there is one.  Upon completion of the Knowledge Check please click the COMPLETE button again and you will then be taken to the COURSE STATUS page and you may select the next section or go back and review a previous section.

COURSE STATUS
The Course Status button gives you the status of your progress through the course and tells you the date by which you must complete the course.  It shows you the major sections and which ones you have completed.  You may select any option you have previously viewed or the next one in sequence … you may not jump ahead.

WORKBOOK
The course workbook is in the Download section and the online course follows the workbook numbering format.  We encourage you to use the download option and print the workbook.  This will provide you with the option of making notes as the course proceeds.

You will find the audio and video segments have been designed to lead you through the key parts of the text. 

NOTE PAD
You will also find the option to enter your notes electronically by clicking the NOTEPAD option and typing in your personal notes concerning the topic being discussed.  You may select the notes option at anytime and a running log of your notes will be recalled for you to make an entry.  Just hit the SAVE button and you will be returned to the beginning of the slide you were viewing at that time.

Course Materials
The course is divided into 10 distinct sections. The course material is available for you to download along with all the support material; just click on the DOWNLOAD tab to obtain and print the desired material. Some of the support material and the course handouts will also be referenced at the appropriate time. . 

Course Completion Requirements
To complete the course, you must finish each Section as presented. There will be knowledge checks at the end of some sections to help you determine your grasp of the material and provide a method for you to review any weak areas.

Upon completion of the last section, you will be given access to the 25 question final examination. You must then score a minimum grade of 80% in order to be given credit for completion of the required course curriculum.  Should you fail the exam, you will be directed to review the course material for the sections you failed and retake a new exam.  You may repeat this process until such time as you score the required grade.

What do I do if I encounter a technical problem or have a question while taking the course?
Select the Contact Instructor button.  You will have the option to contact the course instructor or the technical support department.  We will promptly respond to your question via email during normal business hours, (8:00 – 5:00 Pacific Time); ); If your question is submitted Saturday or Sunday we will respond to your question the following Monday, or the next business day.

How much time do I have to complete the course?
You have 180 days from the date you first log into the course to complete all 4 Modules and pass the final exam.

Do I get continuing education credit for completing this course?
RealtyU has not applied for, nor registered the AHS Course (online or classroom), for continuing education credit in any state.  However, individual RealtyU® Schools or REALTOR® Associations may have obtained continuing education credit for the course delivered in their classroom.  The student must check with the school or organization delivering the course to verify the availability of any education credit prior to registering for the course.

How do I get my certificate of completion?
Every student that successfully completes the AHS Course automatically becomes an Accredited Home-Staging Specialist.  This is done automatically for all students taking the course when they successfully pass the final exam.  You will be emailed a login and password to the Accredited Home-Staging Specialist website, which will provide access to your profile.  You will also have access to “AHS Support Material.”

How do I get the AHS logo?
The AHS logo and other information including a press release template will be available to the AHS Designees upon logging into the website and selecting “AHS Support Material”.

Where can I find the AHS support material that is referred to in the class?
The course support material is available for download on the Accredited Home-Staging Specialist website. Log in to www.stagingspecialist.com and click on the AHS Support Material tab.


How do I get my name and contact information into the National Directory of Accredited Home-Staging Specialists (AHS)?

When you complete the course you will become an AHS Designee and your name and contact information will be entered into the database from the application.  At that time you will be emailed your login ID and initial password. You may change your password upon logging in but your login ID (student ID) will always remain the same.   It is up to you to ensure that all of the contact information is correct by updating your profile. You may also upload a photo for display as an AHS.  Your full contact information and photo are provided in the search results when the searcher clicks on “View Profile.” 

If I leave the course in the middle, how do I log back in?
Click on or paste the following URL into your web browser:

Click on the LOGIN tab, enter your login ID and password, and you will be immediately taken to the COURSE STATUS page. Here you can navigate back to the place you were when you previously logged out.

You can also get back by going to www.RealtyUOnline.com and clicking on the AHS course in the Designation Box … you will be taken to the AHS page and there is a place for you to login with your Student ID and Password.



What if I can’t remember my login and/or password?
Go to the LOGIN page and you will be able to email technical support to retrieve that information.
